Time off

Leave balances everyone can trust.

One balance, visible to the employee and the manager, accruing by your policy and decrementing the moment leave is approved.

Capabilities

What the module covers

Accruals that calculate themselves

Monthly or annual accrual, pro-rated for joiners and leavers, with carry-over caps and expiry applied per policy and per entity.

Every leave type you actually use

Annual, sick, parental, unpaid, compassionate and study leave, each with its own rules on evidence, approval and payroll treatment.

Team calendars and clash detection

Managers see who is away before approving, so two people from the same small team are not signed off for the same week by accident.

Public holidays per location

Holiday calendars per country and emirate, so a multi-site team is not manually reconciled every time a holiday falls mid-week.

In the product

The whole year at a glance, with accrued, taken and available balances always in view.

Leave goes wrong quietly. An accrual rule changes, a carry-over cap is applied inconsistently, someone takes unpaid leave that payroll never hears about, and the first sign of trouble is a disagreement at year end.

How it fits together

Accruals, carry-over and the year end

Leave rarely fails loudly. An accrual rule changes, a carry-over cap is applied to some people and not others, someone takes unpaid leave that payroll never hears about, and the first visible sign is an argument in December.

Time off

No more asking HR what is left

Because leave, attendance and payroll share one employee record in Teamio, an approved day off is reflected everywhere at once.

What it looks like in practice

Unpaid leave changes the days-on-payroll figure. Approved leave does not. Getting that distinction right by hand, every cycle, for every employee, is exactly the kind of work that should not depend on somebody remembering.

Year-end reconciliation

In practice

The cases that cause year-end disputes

Leave is simple until one of these appears, and each needs a rule rather than a judgement call.

  1. A mid-year joiner

Entitlement pro-rated from the start date, so someone joining in September does not appear to have a full annual balance in their first week.

  2. Carry-over at year end

A cap on what rolls forward and an expiry after which it lapses, applied to everyone on the same basis rather than negotiated individually.

  3. Unpaid leave

Reduces payable days in the pay period, which is the single most common gap between what HR recorded and what payroll paid.

  4. A clash in a small team

Surfaced before approval, so two people from the same three-person team are not both signed off for the same week by different approvers.

  5. Someone leaving with a balance

The outstanding entitlement is calculated into the final settlement with the accrual working attached, rather than estimated afterwards.

FAQ

Common questions

Can managers see their team's leave before approving?

Yes. The team calendar shows who is already away in that period, which is what prevents clashes being approved by two managers who each only saw their own request.

Can employees see their own leave balance?

Yes. Self-service shows the current balance, what has accrued, what is booked and what is pending approval, which removes most of the questions HR fields each month.

Does attendance work offline?

Clock events captured on a phone are queued and submitted when the connection returns, with the original timestamp preserved rather than the time of upload.

How is overtime calculated across midnight?

A shift that crosses midnight is treated as one continuous span rather than two partial days, so night crews are not silently split across two payroll days.

Can different entities have different leave policies?

Yes. Accrual rates, carry-over caps and public holiday calendars are set per entity and location, so a team in a second country follows local entitlements automatically.

What happens to unused leave when someone leaves?

The outstanding balance is surfaced in the final settlement with the accrual working attached, rather than being calculated by hand after the last payslip has gone out.
